Melburnians enjoy nothing more than a good coffee at one of the many quirky cafes that are constantly popping up all over this amazing city and its surrounds.
With kids in tow, however, going for an enjoyable coffee takes on a whole new meaning. As a parent of young boys, my priority is to find a venue that has more than a babycino to keep my fire crackers entertained.
Ma Me in Doncaster East has hit the nail on the head. This café is nestled in a sleepy street in this leafy suburb. The front half of the venue has been made into a craft studio, while the back half functions as a basic milk bar and gift shop.
The G boys getting crafty
Kids get to choose from a range of kits from their art and craft menus.

For the younger kids (referred to as Creative Crafters), they can choose a creative pack from the craft bar to keep them busy while sipping on their babycino (which is included in the package).
The craft bar
For big kids they offer a creative maker package which includes a choice of a number of larger projects such as a canvas tote or wooden birdhouse.
The café also has an outdoor enclosed area with a cubby house, toys and seating so the kids can get some fresh air after their crafty stint.

But wait, there’s more! Ma Me also offers a weekly pre-school program every Wednesday 9.30am-11am and has a party room with party packages available.
For anyone who has a child with a creative flair, this is the place for you.
