Ashcombe Maze and Lavender Gardens are a fun outdoor activity to keep families entertained. Whether you visit for the day, or as part of a Mornington Peninsula holiday, be sure to set aside several hours onsite to fully appreciate the gardens.

The maze itself is forty years old and we certainly had a lot of fun trying to find our way through the tall and sometimes narrow spaces between the hedges.

The highlight of our visit was definitely completing The Great Gnome and Fairy Hunt. This involved the children racing around the entire property trying to find both gnome statues and fairies images hidden around the forests and flowering plants. They were rewarded with a treat at the end of the hunt, and were suitably worn out.

It was very pleasant to sit and eat some lunch overlooking the maze itself at Ashcombe Cafe, a fully licensed cafe with plenty of snacks and more substantial options available.

After lunch, we followed both the rose and lavender mazes and spotted some interesting plants along the Ashcombe Gardens Discovery Trail. As we left, we were tempted by many lavender themed souvenirs to purchase at the Garden gift shop. Visitors could even buy their own lavender plants to take home as a reminder of the day.
