I feel like its time to stop being down on Docklands – or is that just me?
My family and I spent the day down and South Wharf on Sunday and I must say I have a new appreciation for it. The water and open spaces are a toddlers dream and the restaurants are open and child friendly. After a big day at Skate, Slide and Chill we wanted a place to relax and have a drink before heading home and we found the most perfect place!
Bangpop is a brightly coloured Thai restaurant on the waterfront. With a line of bicycles along the fence it drew us in from the get go. There were large tables outside with astro turf layed down and we thought we could let the kids have a little roll around while we enjoyed a glass of vino.
When my husband went inside to order he called the kids over when he discovered the bar was made of lego/duplo. The kids were excited and the waiter gave us a little bucket of blocks to take back to our table to amuse the kids. If that isn't enough its directly opposite the Microflite helipad which had helicopters launching every 15 minutes or so – Mr 14 months was in heaven.
We didn't try the food, but the smells coming from the kitchen were yummy so we are looking forward to giving it a go next time. The menu promises “fresh flavours from Bangkok straight to your table” which sounds good to me!
If you are looking for a place to stop down for lunch or dinner on a family day at the Docklands, or a place to catch up with friends with kids – I highly recommend giving Bangpop a go!
