Celebrating Difference - Melbourne Autism Expo 2016

by kateG (follow)
It is estimated that around 250,000 Australians (55,000 Victorians) live with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Considering this, it is little wonder that most of us are touched by autism.

Two Ringwood (Vic) mums who both have primary school aged boys with autism are the brains behind the inaugural Melbourne Autism Expo 2016.

They found the whole process of diagnosis very overwhelming and difficult to know where to turn for help and support along the way.

Above all, they felt there are significant gaps in the system to help people once they have received the diagnosis.

They now feel it is their turn to give back to the community and celebrate difference with this unique expo.

The Melbourne Autism Expo aims to provide anyone who is touched by ASD with a range useful information, resources and networking opportunities.

Proceeds from the MAE are being donated to community organisations supporting ADD including Irabina Autism Services and Yellow Lady Bugs.
