by kateG (follow)
Most kids love nothing more than getting up close and personal with animals. Farms are a great place for kids to do exactly this.

Chesterfield Farm

With a number of amazing farms dotted around Melbourne we are spoilt for choice. The G boys and I decided to recently have some fun in the autumn sun at Chesterfield Farm in Scoresby.

Main entrance

This historical farm has been delighting families for years. Located near the Ferntree Gully Road entrance off Eastlink, it’s a very easy place to get to.

The nursery

With so many hands on experiences for visitors to choose from, there will undoubtedly be a number of wannabe farmers after a few hours here.

Chesterfield Farm has a number of attractions that will keep kids of any age amused, including:

- Tractor rides around the farm paddocks.

- Animal nursery where kids can hold, pat and feed some of the baby animals including sheep, goats, rabbits and piglets

- Demonstrations in the show barn including cow milking where kids are given the opportunity to hand milk Tina the resident cow, be amazed by the sheepdogs at work as they round up and move a flock of sheep around the farm.

- A range of animals in paddocks animals that kids can hand-feed including kangaroos, emus, ostriches, deer, goats, camels, horses, donkeys, lamas and many more.

Hello deer!

There is plenty of space to picnic with various picnic tables dotted around the farm, many of which are under cover. There is also selection of snacks and hot and cold drinks available at the newly renovated Homestead Café. They also sell a small range of home-made produce.

Chesterfield Farm offers special packages for birthday parties, mother’s groups, school visits, kinder excursions and Corporate functions.
