Send your kids to jail this summer! The Old Melbourne Gaol invites your children to enjoy a very unique experience these school holidays.
'Escape the Gaol' is an all-new immersive and educational activity designed for small folk aged six and up.
Your children will become inmates at the Gaol and explore the former-prison-now-museum built in the 1840s.
Discover all the necessary clues to create the perfect escape plan, without being discovered by the prison guards. Participants are given a notebook containing a number of riddles, which must be deciphered in order to receive directions to hidden clues.
Once the clues are discovered, 'prisoners' must secretly hunt through the Gaol to uncover the answers to pull off a fool-proof escape plan.
Our children had the best time uncovering the clues in their 'Escape the Gaol' booklet all the while finding out what it was like to be locked up (and executed!) in the 1800s. Bonus extra wearing a replica Ned Kelly costume for fun photos. History, education and fun combined.
The Old Melbourne Gaol is an iconic historical landmark in the heart of the city. The Gaol boasts a remarkable history, holding both petty offenders and dangerous criminals of the past including the infamous Ned Kelly.
Today, the museum offers visitors the chance to experience what it was like for the men and women who were once held at the Gaol all those years ago.
The 'Escape the Gaol' experience is available for a limited time only, from Tuesday, December 26 2017 to Friday, January 26 2018 and is inclusive of your entry fee.
