When I was a kid, computers sat on desks, there was no Youtube, and Mario and Luigi were stick figures. These days, it's infinite online streaming, lifelike video games, and computers are more or less an expectation. Whilst such innovations are supposedly an improvement, I scratch my head. What's the impact of these on physical fitness? How do these nourish our kid's wellbeing? The physicality and resourcefulness of previous generations seems to be lacking. So when I see something like this, I have nothing but praise.

The good guys at The Good Guys have teamed up with the Circus Oz swashbucklers to bring "Super Hero Academy". A place where young cadets come together to develop (or perhaps refine) their inner circus prowess. A fun, yet engaging get-together, where kids are introduced to exciting circus acts. Swing into action on the trapeze! Catapult like a cannonball on the trampoline! Then venture onto the mat for some fun team-building games. Yes, these activities develop balance, strength, dexterity. But they do more. They also develop kids' confidence, social skills, and sense of camaraderie. And all within a warm, non-competitive, safe environment.

My son had a ball. The organizers were friendly, and the atmosphere was abuzz. Upon arriving, we were greeted with welcoming smiles, and offered hot chocolate and cookies. The kids were then introduced to their instructors, before navigating through a majestic 'tentacled spacecraft' to the various activity stations. The numerous charismatic instructors turned the kids into pros in no time. After completing these activities, the kids scaled a googly-eyed robot back to the starting point, before having their photo taken post-superheroism. Everyone enjoyed it, and I think you and your child will too.
