Celebrate World Environment Day surrounded by beautiful little bandicoots.
On the 5th June, Werribee Zoo will hold a special event to celebrate World Environment Day.
The day will be dedicated to raising awareness for the endangered native Eastern Barred Bandicoot.
There will be lots of activities for your children, such as a huge bush-dance along to the music of the Billy Tea Bush Band.
After your kids have mastered the bandicoot-hop, they can have their face painted, create their own lantern, participate in games and learn more about the bandicoot with hourly keeper talks.
World Environment Day is celebrated in over 100 countries, in the hope to raise awareness for conservation.
In Victoria, the bandicoot once ranged across Western Victoria, but the marsupial native to Australia is now unfortunately extinct in the wild.
Come on down for a great family fun day, and make a difference for the wildlife in our own backyard.
