Melburnians are spoilt for choice of amazing outdoor spaces to take the kids.
This week, the G boys and I packed a picnic and headed out to meet friends at Heide Museum of Modern Art in Bulleen.
Their beautiful heritage listed gardens provide an ideal location to pull up your picnic rug and enjoy a lazy sunny day while the kids run free. The kids enjoyed the delights of exploring the number of large sculptures dotted around the grounds, as well as discovering an array of hiding spots across the gardens.
Enjoying some of the large sculptures
With a café on site, Café Vue, there is little reason to leave this place in a hurry. The café provides a good selection of take food and drink. They also provide picnic rugs for visitors to use.
After the G boys had run their race with endless exploration adventures and creative play, we ventured in to the art gallery. The boys were particularly interested with the current exhibition Dancing Umbrellas: An exhibition of movement and light. The G boys enjoyed seeing the different colour and movement of the light displays.
One of the latest art installations!
Heidi hosts a range of activities throughout the year for kids and families, including Heide Art Bubs which is a program for parents and kids aged 0-5 that offers a guided tour and various activities.
They even offer a choice of four children’s party packages for any children that want to release their inner artist.
Heide has got it covered. A fabulous place for the whole family to enjoy.
