A high-powered family friendly show mixing Parkour with Contemporary Dance
Immerse your kids into the invigorating underground world of Parkour, in an engaging new stage show that will have you and your family perch on the edge of your seats.
Jump First, Ask Later
If you don't know what Parkour is, the concept is for individuals to overcome physical obstacles at great speed. Agile Parkour participants jump, leap run and climb from one point to another, usually in an urban environment, without any apparatus, in the quickest way possible. (Google Parkour and be amazed!).
Now Parkour comes to Art Centre Melbourne's Fairfax Studio stage, in a collective series of stories compiled by Western Sydney’s underground Parkour community.
Jump First, Ask Later is directed by acclaimed choreographer Byron Perry, the work is an urban choreographic portrait of Western Sydney, the most culturally diverse region in Australia.
This show sees a collaboration between Powerhouse Youth Theatre and Force Majeure and features the founders of DMC – Dauntless Movement Crew, a Parkour crew based in Fairfield.
Be amazed by urban freestyle movement mixed with contemporary dance, which will explore the narrative behind these amazing street artists who usually use the city for their performance.
Explore the creative mindset behind Parkour, which is not to avoid obstacles you encounter, but rather deliberately engage with them order to find your path. In other words, to ‘jump first, ask later’.
Jump First, Ask Later is your opportunity to experience Parkour in real life in adventure that you've never experienced before
