Book a birthday party at Scienceworks Museum for your child

Our family hadn't visited Scienceworks before, so when my daughter was invited to a 7th birthday party there last week, we were delighted.

The drive to Spotswood was pleasant, with ample parking when we arrived, we even stopped off on the way to grab a cheeky bite at Candied Bakery nearby for pastries and sandwiches.

Scienceworks is located across from the century old Pumping Station. The museum itself aims to provide kids with a fun and educational experience with their ever-changing temporary and permanent exhibits. Standard entry fee (free for kids) will grant access to most of the exhibits however the Planetarium, Lightning Room and some special exhibits are an extra cost.

The permanent exhibitions were plenty of fun for the kids, ranging from racing against Cathy Freeman in the ‘Sportsworks’ section to some amazing STEM activities involving light / sounds and 3D puzzles in the ‘Ground Up: Building Big Ideas, Together’ exhibition.

The Planetarium was very impressive with a 16 meter dome ceiling projection show, which was both informative and visually stunning at the same time. The Lightning Room was another highlight for us; packed with fun little lightning related experiments, finishing with a spectacular live lightning show on the giant Tesla coil.

After exploring the exhibitions, the party continued in the private birthday room, with the kids enjoying their well deserved afternoon tea. Sausage rolls and fairy bread were gobbled down, before being the birthday cake arrived.

Our daughter loved the party and all the amazing activities on offer at Scienceworks. We will definitely be heading back soon to see what new exhibitions are on offer in the near future.
