Head over to the annual Knox Festival in Ferntree Gully today for some family fun.
The festival features a multitude of fairground rides such as Alien Abduction (for those who are 120cm or more tall), bumper cars, bouncing castles and spinning tea cups.
A highlight of this year's festival is the Great Forest Walk. This specially curated site provides a peaceful space for families to play noughts and crosses on colourful logs, draw chalk pictures, examine life under a microscope and listen to storytellers and performers gently sing and strum their instruments.
Market and food stalls line the fields. One can buy a coffee, snacks or lunch and eat at the tables or bring your own picnic. If you head down to the creek you can even cook your own damper.
There are plenty of free art and craft and gardening activities. Children can pot their own plant, or play in the extensive sand pit which has been specially created for the festival.
There are numerous live performances, roving entertainers, and activities to suit all temperaments.
