There's only a few weeks left for you to experience the magnificent dusk-to-dark summer spectacular LANTASIA at Boneo Maze.
LANTASIA at Boneo Maze
At 6pm every night until 27 January, Boneo Maze comes to life in light, unveiling a wondrous collection of Chinese lanterns. The silk and wire art structures light the grounds of the 27 acre garden and outdoor play space.
The enchanting display of silk lanterns opened on Boxing Day, and has seen thousands of Melbourne visitors drive down to the beautiful eco tourism spot on the Mornington Peninsula.
LANTASIA opens at 6pm each evening, when 3 silk sculptures up to 3 metres high, illuminate the park. The exhibit includes giant insects, birds and butterflies, crafted over several months prior to the opening. Inspired by the family-friendly display, your children are also invited to take part in a lantern making workshop, in which they can make their own creation to take home.
Due to the early success of this 2016 LANTASIA event, big plans are afoot for 2017:
“We had a feeling this would be something special for families,” said owner Michael Wittingslow.
“But we have been happily surprised by just how enthusiastically families have responded to LANTASIA. It’s an event for families to experience pure joy together, and it’s a wonderful way to slow down the pace and explore the outdoors at night time - with a magical glow to make it all the more memorable.”
Michael added that following on from the success of this and their New Years Eve event catering for kids at the Maze, they are already planning additional features for 2017.
“Next year we hope to add music and more workshops, food vendors and a story-based themed program. We are inviting ideas from emerging young artists from Melbourne’s White Nights as inspiration for future events at the Maze.”
Boneo's cafe remains open into the night, so you can replenish with a hot coffee, a Rye Chai, an ice cream or dessert at the lakeside.
