Little Sparks: reinventing Play Cafes and they're setting the standards high.
Melbourne foodie scene is bustling, although dining with kids is usually a quick drop in. There is usually a compromise on quality of food vs play areas. Not many venues are hitting the mark on both. When you come across a venue that sets the standard high; my hat goes off to them. Little Sparks Cafe is one of these.
Little Sparks in Kew, is owned and run by a mother of young children. Elaine understands the difficulties dining with children and often feels many children play areas are run down or the food isn't up to scratch. Elaine wanted to change this and her vision has hit the mark, in our opinion.
The most noticeable difference is the spacious play area, which is in perfect eye view of parents. With such a range of pretend play options; this will absolutely buy more time at the table for you. Toddlers and preschoolers will love the icecream stand, fruit and vegetable market stand, massive kitchen, dress ups and beauty salon. Smaller children will also feel safe in the dedicated floor space to play.
Of course, it was equally important that the food was high quality too and Little Sparks delivery nothing short of this. With an all day breakfast menu, lunch menu, sweets menu and kid's menu; they've catered to most tastes. The food is vibrant, creative and delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed my Waffles Egg Benny and next time I'll return; I'll be sure to order a healthy option from the menu.
Little Sparks is a perfect meet up place to take the kids. With ample space for prams and a sizable communal table; they're perfect for groups of any size. They're also a great option for any special event coming up.
