Film buffs take note. The Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) has announced this year's Kids' Gala Event and tickets are now on sale.
Rock Dog at 2017 MIFF Kids' Gala
The Melbourne International Film Festival was founded in 1952 and is therefore one of the oldest film festivals in the world.
The festival, which this year runs from 3 - 30 August, will see over 300 global films screened over the four week duration.
MIFF screens family films as part of the event, which in the past has seen audience members enjoy well known films such as Kubo & The Two Strings, Red Dog, Paper Planes, Despicable Me and Coraline.
This year, the headlining kids movie premiering at the MIFF Kids' Gala on Saturday 19 August 2017 will be Rock Dog.
Directed by co-director of Toy Story 2 (1999) Ash Brannon and based on a graphic novel by Chinese rock star Zheng Jun, Rock Dog is a light-hearted family adventure film that will warm your hearts this winter.
The animated film includes an impressive voice cast including Luke Wilson and Eddie Izzard. Rock Dog follows the story of a Tibetan mastiff Bodi (Wilson) who is supposed to take over his father’s role as village guard to the local sheep. But when a radio falls out of the sky Bodi discovers his true passion - music! Inspired by an interview with Angus Scattergood (Izzard), Bodi sets off to find his musical destiny. Meanwhile, wolf pack leader Linnux hatches a plot to get to those tasty sheep. Can Bodi save the village without giving up his dream?
Tickets are now available for your family to enjoy Rock Dog at the 2017 MIFF Kids' Gala event. Walk the red carpet and enjoy the party with delicious Cobs popcorn and festivities before the screening.
