Introduce your children to the beautiful sounds of classical music, as the Melbourne Youth Orchestra return to Australia from NZ to perform at Hawthorn Arts Centre this September.
The Melbourne Youth Orchestra is recognised as Victoria’s finest youth orchestra, with members ranging from 15–25yo. The Orchestra is a launch pad for young talent wishing to move into professional music careers.
The program will include much-loved classical pieces: Dvořák’s Carnival Overture, Op. 92; Ravel’s Bolero; and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5, conducted by MYO Chief Conductor Steven Hillinger.
Melbourne Youth Orchestra cellist Claudia Kuner, 17yo, is one of the musicians who has recently returned from the NZ tour and is looking forward to the September performance.
“The best part about making music, for me, is when you perform amazing but challenging repertoire. You can really get inside the music during a performance and give it your all!" says Claudia.
