If you love a quirky circus performance, make sure you don't miss PESCADO - A Circus Cabaret Fusion featuring NICA's students showing off their acrobatic skills at National Institute of Circus Arts’ intimate studio space from 13 to 15 May, 2015.
The National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA), is Australia's Centre of Excellence for training in contemporary circus arts, offering Australia's only Bachelor of Circus Arts. The course attracts a wide range of applications from around the world, and many NICA graduates move into exciting careers within the circus arts industry.
PESCADO - A Circus Cabaret Fusion presents an aquatic cocktail of circus, cabaret and comedy by NICA students currently in their second-year. Co-directed by Hayden Spencer and Carita Farrer Spencer, two familiar names in the circus industry, PESCADO will submerge the audience into an underwater world filled with piscean characters, performing a stellar mix of circus skills with a tounge-in-gill silliness, wrapped up in a 'Venice Beach' atmosphere.
The underwater themed performance showcases the skills of twenty talented artists, using traditional circus skills in an unconventional manner. Imagine aerial trapeze backing vocalists who strangely resemble both prawns and The Supremes, crab-like strong men, a Walrus-esque ringmaster, and scuba-diving DJs and dancers.
Although not a conventional family performance, children are welcome.
