Olinda Yarra and The High Tea Mistress Family Fun Day.
For the first time ever, Olinda Yarra opened its gates for a Family Fun Day on Australia Day 2019. KidTown popped along for the experience.
As we drove to the grounds of Olinda Yarra, we were taken aback by the majestic beauty of the Yarra Vally. We were able to enjoy the magnificent 360 views that are normally reserved for weddings and private functions.
Shelly (the owner) had opened the gates of her kingdom for all to enter, with the passion and excitement that can be compared to Ana opening the gates in Frozen.
We were embraced by the warmest of welcomes as we wandered around the child friendly activities on site.
Miss 3s favourite had to be the miniature pony Merlin. He was the friendliest horse we have ever met, allowing children of all ages to feed him, stroke him and even pat him.
Merlin the Pony
Mr Gs favourite was the collection of ice cold ales that had been supplied Yarra Valleys very own The Public Brewery. Mr G described them as "bloody good beers". Trust me it must be good for him to say that.
High Tea by the High Tea Mistress
My favourite had to be delicious High Tea which was supplied by the High Tea Mistress and served to us on a under a beautiful aged tree. There was a selection of hand made generously filled sandwiches, miniature quiches, eclaires, pastries, macaroons and scones with cream and jam.
The beverage collection was equally as impressive with sparkling wine (apple juice for Miss 3), iced tea and a huge variety of tea that could possibly have been all of the tea in China! We all felt very indulged having such a scrumptious high tea in such an amazing location.
Olinda Yarra are planning their next family friendly event on Sunday 31 March. KidTown Melbourne will remind you all a little closer to the time though high teas can be enjoyed on the premises or through mobile order throughout the year.
