Fire up your lightsabers and dust off your favourite Cosplay outfits, because Oz Comic-Con crash lands into the Melbourne Convention Centre this July, and you can win a family pass to visit.
Oz Comic-Con is the largest fandom fest in the Southern Hemisphere, gathering likeminded folk from all over the city to celebrate all things sci-fi, comic, gaming, Cosplay, fantasy film, cult TV shows and pop culture.
Get your geek on, with a whole bunch of family friendly activities, talks and presentations, all on topic within the aforementioned genre.
Oz Comic-Con first opened to Australian fans in 2012, with conventions held in Perth, Brisbane, Sydney Adelaide and Melbourne. Since its inception, Oz Comic-Con has grown year-on-year, and attracts fans in their droves, dressed in their best alter ego attire.
Held at the Melbourne Convention Centre, more than half of the fans who visit Oz Comic-Con, attend in costume. Like book week on steroids, colourful Cosplayers spend hours, months or even more time, perfecting their favourite characters.
Blow your children's minds as they meet their favourite superhero, Darth Vader, Pikachu or a Dalek, a Disney Princess or Captain Jack Sparrow.
Step inside Dr Who's Tardis, and touch Han Solo in Carbonite. Have a go at lifting Thor's hammer, or pull up a bean bag, sit down and relax with your favourite manga.
In the Family Activity Room, parents can sit back and tag team with their partners, while young fans play games away from the hustle-and-bustle.
Gamers can head straight to the Gaming Zone, where there are tabletop and consoles set up for skills and ages over a two-day gaming bonanza.
If Cosplay is what you're all about, the Oz Comic-Con Championships of Cosplay is the largest and most prestigious costume contest in Australia. Cosplay contests take place on both days, with the ultimate Oz Comic-Con Championships of Cosplay taking place on the Sunday. The overall Australian winner will go on to represent the country in the 2017 C2E2 Crown Championships of Cosplay in Chicago! This is outfit creativity at its finest.
Lastly, Oz Comic-Con offers Q&A sessions and meet-and-greets with some of the big names in fan culture. As well as a range of high profile TV and film celebrities, comic guests will also appear at Oz Comic-Con.
Follow the latest news on Oz Comic-Con's Facebook page for Melbourne's celebrity visitor guest line up, announced shortly.
