In all honesty, I have found this concert very tricky to write about. I am lost for words, nothing that little old me can write will ever do this creation the justice it truly deserves. I'm going to have a go, so bear with me.
Pixar In Concert
I have never taken either of my children to see a Symphony Orchestra. I guess I had always thought it was a little out of their league, and out of mine too.
What an incredible place!
When I saw The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra were doing Pixar in Concert my eyes lit up. This was a great opportunity to dip our toes in the water.
Walking in to Hamer Hall felt very special, the lights, the stage all set up with over one hundred music stands and all the instruments. It really was a sight to behold, my heart was doing somersaults. We were both so excited.
The atmosphere was incredible
The show began with an incredible sound that filled the auditorium. It was like the most sensational, jaw dropping commercial for all things Pixar! Poppy's eyes were as big as saucers, mine too, and our mouths were wide open in wonder. We absolutely loved it. At one point she asked me if the music was really being played "LIVE"? It was that spellbinding.
The clips from all the Pixar movies made it so easy for Poppy to connect to the concert. She knew all the movies, and recognised quite a few pieces of music too. This excited her. I'm not sure she had ever really listened out for the score whilst watching a film, but she is sure to now. She was utterly blown away, we both were.
You really must book to see the Symphony Orchestra
I felt overwhelmed by the talent of the musicians, and the enchantment of it all to be honest. It was utterly magical, astounding, wonderfully beautiful, and something I will definitely be searching out for in the future.
Here's to Pixar making a feature length movie with none of the chit chat and all of the wonderful music instead!
