REVIEW: Baywatch The Movie

The plot - 'Lifeguard Mitch Buchannon (Dwayne Johnson) and a brash new recruit (Zac Efron) uncover a criminal plot that threatens the future of the bay'. Yes, that's it! Just like the TV series, the Baywatch team spend more time chasing criminals and turning beachgoers on, than saving drowning children.

Baywatch - it's cheesy but it's funny!

Ok! So Baywatch the movie has had the critics going all negative, and has had a few pretty damning reviews. I was reading them, wondering if people review movies purposely to give negative comment. Let me tell you, there was far more laughing at the Melbourne Premiere than groaning, and that in my mind is a good indication that people were enjoying it, trashy or not.

The Premiere

The movie is rated a 15, and for good reason. There is plenty of naughtiness, lots of beautiful bottoms jiggling around in very tight swimsuits, and heaps of 'boner' jokes. This movie was a perfect mix of mega muscles, tanned bodies, and cheesy..no, quite terrible jokes. Baywatch the movie was never going to be anything else was it?

Zac Efron has a body... well... um.... you just have to go watch the film. The girls aren't half as naff as they were in the 1990's series, they're far more sassy and smart than Pamela Anderson ever was.

Lots of eye candy is guaranteed

Baywatch the movie is not at all for the kids, I'm not even sure who it's for. There are so many references to the original show that I think you may have to be old enough to remember a hairy David Hasslehoff parading up and down the beach.

What I am sure is that it's humorous, it's entertaining, and it's cheeky, which is more than you would expect from a remake of an incredibly forgettable TV show.

Get your girlfriends together, grab some popcorn, and go to the movies, even if it's just for the eye candy!

Plenty of slow motion running in this movie
