PLOS Musical Productions presents Shrek the Musical

The following is a collaborative review by Erica and Jen.

Considering the movie Shrek is 18 years old this year, most parents still think of it as a family favourite.

Quite rightly so, considering this "happily ever after" story comes with a monster or should we say an ogre of a twist.

This evidently timeless tale has arrived on the Frankston stage in a fun musical extravaganza Shrek the Musical presented by PLOS Musical Productions.

We went to see it today and what a brilliant production it is. The Shrek legacy lives on in another dimension.

There's plenty of humour, a wonderful stage set, amazing costumes and a talented cast playing colourful characters in this stage adaption of Shrek.

All of the Shrek cast are included with some hilarious alterations. Lord Farquaad is brought to his knees (you have to see it to believe it). There are tap dancing rats, and a cross dressing wolf added to the stage mix.

Well done to all of the PLOS Musical Productions team for yet another outstanding performance.

It's great to see a first class show like this perform at a regional playhouse. Usually such calibre would be reserved for a city theatre.

See Shrek, Princess Fiona, Donkey and fairytale favourites at Frankston Arts Centre now until 9 January 2019.

Parents of little ones take note; this is a lengthy show, 3 hours duration including intermission. Our two (3yrs and 5yrs) were fine but it's something to be aware of if you are taking young children. Stock up on your snacks!

Where: Frankston Arts Centre, 27/37 Davey St, Frankston
When: 31 December 2018 - 9 January 2019.
