Imagine a musical theatre performance without song, spoken word nor orchestra. Is it even a musical? Well yes, it is, but not in the traditional sense.
STOMP is one of the most energetic shows you will ever see on stage. A powerful performance filled with phenomenal musical creativity, lots of humour and plenty of feet-stamping, hand-clapping audience participation.
There are dancers, but not your typical flashy-clothed sequinned kind. STOMP's cast are clothed in paint splattered street attire; singlets, cargo pants, ripped jeans and big boots
Trash comes alive as the STOMP cast create percussion rhythms from everyday things such as: metal garbage cans, basketballs, brooms, zippo lighters, rubber tubes, supermarket trolleys, plastic bags, paper bags, matchboxes, saucepans, sticks, water filter bottles and even the kitchen sink.
Enjoy musical beats similar to the sounds of the drums in a Caribbean Carnival matched with the rhythm of an underground dance party, all performed in a dark and dingy, backstreet alley styled set. This is STOMP and it is marvellous.
You may not believe a musical show with no story line would keep an audience entertained for an hour and 45 minutes (no interval), but it does.
STOMP is infectious. We may never look at a supermarket trolley in the same way again.
