With the trying its hardest to brighten up our days at the moment, it seems a shame to waste the beautiful days inside.
The G boys and I got our fix of vitamin D when we recently spent a fun morning at Ringwood Lake Park. Mr 2.5 and Mr 4.5 enjoyed racing around the lake on their bikes.
Situated on in behind the busy intersection of Maroondah Highway and Mount Dandenong Road in Ringwood, it's all too easy to drive past this local highlight.
The 8.5 hectare park is the perfect place to escape the hussle bussle. This park always seems to be a buzz of activity with people walking, riding, running, tai chi, birthday parties, picnics and so much more.
Walking tracks takes you round the lake and enable you to enjoy the natural bushland, lake, local wildlife and, of course, the train chuffing past on the Begrave/Lilydale Line. A must for any little people who like to see things that go!
The walking tracks also connect to trails including the Mullum Mullum Trail.
The stand out for the park is the playground located towards Maroondah Highway end.
The playground boasts various flying foxes, swings, many interconnecting climbing equipment with bridges, ladders and slides, as well as accessible swings.
The wooden Australian animals also add to the magic of the natural surroundings. Toilets and water fountains are conveniently located next to the playground.
Surrounded by picnic tables/shelters and BBQs, this place comes alive on a sunny weekend.
If you are looking for some refreshments, there are is a selection of cafe and affordable eateries opposite the park on Maroondah Highway. Or else, there is Daisy's Hotel complete with an indoor kids' playground for anyone looking for a family dinner for anyone wanting to make a day of it.
With free parking off Mount Dandenong Road, 1-hour parking on Maroondah Highway and within walking distance from the train and bus lines, it's very easy to get to.
A perfect location to while away a sunny day with the kids.
