The G boys and I decided to kick off the school holidays with an outing to Silvers Circus. Well… It’s fair to say that the bar has definitely been raised on the traditional circus show that I recall as a kid, and Silvers is no exception to this.
The two-hour action packed show kept me, Mr G, Mr 6., M 4.5 and even Mr 2.5 enthralled from the beginning to the end.
Ring Master, Simon Tait, took the audience on a journey of wonderment and amazement under the big top. With an exciting mix of tight wire, juggling, hula hoops, clowns, rings, unicylces, illusions and The Globe of Death, there was something for everyone.
Each performance had the audience hanging on to the edge of their seats in anticipation as to what would happen next, particularly with the Wheel Of Steel and The Globe of Death. Neither of which are for the faint hearted!
During the Wheel Of Steel performance, two guys, with nerves of steel, carry out daring stunts from a great height as the large wheels revolve over the stage.
Our heart was racing as we watched in awe as four motor bike riders, known as the Pheonix Riders, zoomed around the inside of a 3.5 metre diameter metal globe. Frightening stuff!
In a more light hearted performance, the enigmatic Gypsy wowed the crowd with her hula hoop skills. As if hula-ing one hoop while balancing on a ball wasn’t hard enough, Gypsy took it up a notch.
Even the illusionist had Mr G and I scratching our heads as to how he actually made his trusty assistants disappear and re-appear!
Silvers Circus has been delighting Australian families for four decades. It will be at Burnley Oval, Richmond from Wednesday 22nd June – Sunday 10th July, 2016. Performances are daily with show times at 1pm and 7.30pm.
