Christmas is over, so it's time to fill in the gaps of your January school holidays.

One activity that really ought to be on your to-do list, is a visit to this year's Sand Sculpting Australia "Lands of Imagination" exhibition at Frankston Waterfront.

Each year, Sand Sculpting Australia's sculpture artists express their creative talents by crafting some 3,500 tonnes of sand into themed displays.

This year sees some outstanding works of art, all within the theme of dreams and imaginations; childhood dreams and fantasies.

You'll be taken on a journey through fairytales, nursery rhymes and magical kingdoms, admire dragons and dinosaurs, giants, creatures of the deep, pirates, spaceships and a trip to Wonderland.

Unlike Santa's Sand Land, which saw the same exhibition open as a special pre-Christmas themed event, Sand Sculpting Australia opened "Lands of Imagination" again on Boxing Day, featuring the same displays, only without the festive activities.

The sand displays are awe-inspiring, right down to the tiny little details you'll notice if you take it all in. The exhibition itself is not too big, so if your children run off, you shouldn't be too concerned you'll loose them.

The little details

It's the adults who really appreciate the artistic endeavours that go into the work of the exhibition, that said, there's enough to keep little hands busy. The sandpit play area complete with cubby houses interests youngsters, as does the good ol' fashioned buckets and shovels to build a sandcastle.

Cubby house fun

In the workshop area, there's an opportunity to create a piece of sand art to take home, or a coloured sand bottle. This is an extra cost if you don't pre-purchase the Super Pass, although it's true to say, kid's do love this part.

There's also facepainting and a cafe should you wish to relax and take it all in.

Entry prices are different to the previous Santa's Sand Land packages were, details of which you'll find below:
