Find out what it's like to be part of the underwater world at the Gold Coast Dive Centre
Pop and I where very kindly invited to go snorkelling at the Gold Coast Dive Centre on our recent trip to QLD.
The Gold Coast Drive centre is a place that provides day trips for snorkelling and scuba diving. They also teach scuba diving to all different levels.
When we arrived at the centre we where given flippers and the option of borrowings wet suit if we wanted to. We decided not to as it was such hot day.
KidTown Melbourne tip: if you are snorkelling and choose not to wear a wet suit, make sure that your back and legs are protected from the sun by either sun cream or a t-shirt. I found this out the hard way.
A mini bus drove us 20 minutes to the harbour, located next to Sea World. From there, we went in a boat to a beautiful location, abundant with fish.
There where 20 people on the boat, 6 snorkelling the rest were scuba diving. Our diving companions were either undertaking their PADI qualification, or taking part in a one-off holiday dive.
Pop and I headed over to the rocks and saw all different types of fish. The star of the show for me was the octopus hiding in the rocks.
We swam for roughly 2 hours before heading back to the boat for a well deserved snag.
Although there isn't an age limit, I would say younger children may struggle. Depending on the ability and confidence of your child, I would suggest 8 years plus.
It was a 4 hour trip all together and completely worth it.
