Tallebudgera Creek has been voted best place to swim in Australia.
Let's be honest, when we think if the Gold Coast we think of the magnificent beaches. The clue is in the name. Golden sandy beaches, the magnificent roar of the ocean surf. I could of stayed for hours just watching the waves crash onto the beach. However, with a 3 year old, the magnificent surf poses so many dangers. With currents, ripe tides to name but a few. We as parents are not able to let our guard down for a second. Mega fun for kids, but not very relaxing for us.
What if I told you there is a river on the Gold Coast, that allows you to see the world-renowned surf from a distance. A place that offers trees for very much needed shade, has the softest sand beaches for making brilliant sand castles and calm shallow waters to allow toddlers to paddle around whilst watching the many fish swimming around their feet. This gem also has life guards on duty, a park, cafe, toilet facilities, showers and plenty of free parking!
The place we are talking about is called the Tallebudgera Creek at Palm Beach just a short drive from the Surfers Paradise. The Yugambeh people have been using this location as a meeting place for over 4000 years. You can find out more about it's aboriginal heritage by taking a guided tour with Jellurgal.
