The Bear & Cub in Seaford; the kid-friendly cafe where everybody knows your name.. and they're always glad you came.
Being at home alone with the kids can be hard and lonely at times. Please don't misunderstand me. I love being at home with my little girl, but sometimes I crave some adult company, a friendly smile and a chance to actually finish a hot cup of coffee.
When Miss 3 and I walked into Bear & Cub in Seaford, I felt like I was walking into a parent version of the TV show Cheers. Obviously without any alcohol and everyone was drinking coffee not beer.
Huge smiles greeted me from both staff and customers, with warm welcoming eyes that empathised a look that said "we know how you're feeling sister... welcome to five minutes peace".
Local artists' work hung on the wall giving the whole room a calming peaceful vibe. I couldn't help but think this really is a parents' safe place. These people all understand and have each other's back. Every stranger in the room made me feel that they where just friends I was yet to meet.
I turned to Miss 3 and she was already in the toy corner playing with other children. A corner enclosed with a toy filled playpen. I was actually able to order a coffee and poppy seed bagle without being interrupted.
There was a whole cabinet of freshly made sandwiches, cakes and homemade goodies to choose from, as well as a breakfast and lunch specials menu behind the counter.
Miss 3 was being escorted by her new found friend to the bikes outside. Bikes with stabilizers, balance bikes, scooters and ride on toys all stacked outside waiting to be played with.
I sat at a table on the pavement watching Miss 3 and her new friend ride up and down the pavement. All the while whist I enjoyed a proper hot mug of coffee. Bliss
Bear and Cub is small, quaint community focused cafe, which has a relaxed friendly atmosphere is so welcoming. I couldn't help but immediately feel part of the furniture.
