With education becoming ever more demanding and competitive, sometimes children need a bit of extra assistance to keep on top of their studies. While younger kids sometimes need a helping hand to grasp the basics of literacy and numeracy, older children and teens often benefit from the personal mentoring that tutoring involves.

Have you ever taken your children to a tutoring college or hired the services of a private tutor? Do you think they benefitted from the experience? Which colleges do you recommend? Alternatively, how did you find a reputable private tutor?

Kumon colleges are very reputable and there are a lot around Melbourne. Take a look at their website: http://au.kumonglobal.com/page.jsp?id=445&version=au&idfrom=2300
I haven't had to fork out for a tutor, with a number of teachers in the family they've proven useful!
Kumon is great for mathematics. Otherwise there has been no need for a tutor, as in Matt's situation.
