Children love to ride their bikes, and therefore cycling is a great way for families to spend quality time together. Where are Melbourne's best cycling trails? Are they in the city's parks and gardens, along the Yarra, or outside the city? Where have you been riding with your kids, and what places do you recommend?

The Bay Trail, along Port Phillip Bay, is really nice. It's level and only six kilometres long, so even very young children should be alright if you stop regularly along the way. It begins at St Kilda Pier and ends at Bay Street in Brighton, and is well-signposted.
Frankston has some great cycling tracks and very family friendly.
Port Melbourne to St Kilda Beach.
Port Phillip Bay
Don't know why, Mornington Peninsula comes to mind so I'm putting it down.
