Get yourselves to Werribee Open Range Zoo this week for the unique opportunity to enjoy Wild Nights with your family.

Operating every night between 9 - 15 July 2017, Wild Nights invites Melbourne families and visitors to enjoy Zoo Victoria's Open Range Zoo after dark.

Remember, this is a time when most animals are active, so if you can, arrive by 4pm to enjoy an evening walk while it's still light and spot Werribee Zoo's beautiful lion family, the hippos, wild dogs, vervet monkeys and cheetahs along the African walking trail.

That said, Wild Nights at Werribee Zoo is not all about animal viewings. As darkness falls, the Zoo comes alive in more ways than one:

🐆 Marshmallow roasting on the open fires (don't forget to BYO mallows!)
🐆 Laser displays
🐆 Yummy hot chocolate to enjoy in the cafe
🐆 Fire dancers
🐆 An African Serval Cat presentation
🐆 The Lantern Parade
🐆 A chance to see the amazing Cirque Africa perform a 30 minute performance under the big top.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Werribee Open Range Zoo for Wild Nights last night. We watched the lions revel in their evening playtime. Pappa Lion roared his big lungs out and those beautiful cubs were out frolicking with Mamma Lion, right in front of us. The hippos were all out of the water and grunting into the night, much to the kid's delight.

Marshmallow roastings over the fire were of course a hit, and the kids loved jumping around in the smoke filled laser displays as darkness fell.

Moving back toward the entrance and exit of Werribee Open Range Zoo, a couple of hypnotic fire dancers were in full swing with their dancing tricks, stopping for photographs with eager fans.

We stopped by the cafe for a yummy hot chocolate before making our way to see the incredible 30 minute performance of Cirque Africa under the Big Top. This isn't the first time we've seen Cirque Africa, and I hope it won't be the last. We're big fans.

We didn't catch the African Serval Cat presentation last night, nor did we stay for the Lantern Parade due to tired children, however, we can be sure you will love all that's on offer during Wild Nights at Werribee Open Range Zoo this winter.

You've only got until 15 July to enjoy the festivities, so don't miss it!
