Melbourne certainly knows how to put on a show and always seems to pull the stops out for great things to do with the family. This winter has been packed full of exciting things to discover, see and do in and around our amazing city.
Mr G and I recently took the boys to the winter fireworks at the Docklands. This is the third year we have been to these and each year it never disappoints us.
Having young kids who don’t cope too well with late nights means that they never get to see the big fireworks for New Year or Australia Day celebrations, so this is a perfect way for them to enjoy some of my favourite childhood memories. Better still, it’s FREE.
To make a night of it, we park in one of the car parks in Docklands to make the trip home as smooth as possible!
Once we had parked we walked along the waterfront and had a look for somewhere to eat. With such an amazing choice of family friendly eateries, you are spoilt for choice.
As part of the winter festival, there is live performances which start from 6.30pm, as well as food trucks and merchandise vans selling light sabres, swords, wands and bubble blowers – always a crowd pleaser!
The fireworks start at 7.30pm with a countdown over the loud speaker. The jaw dropping display is something that all the family can enjoy. There’s nothing more exciting than seeing the G boys’ faces as they watch the sky light up in all the colours of the rainbow. Magic!
The fireworks are on every Friday until the end of August, so what are you waiting for?
